🌙 Luna Across the Galaxy

Far, far away, on a shining planet called Zootellia, a baby girl named Luna was born.

Luna was special. She was born with starlight power inside her — power that could never, ever be taken away. You could not steal it. You could not drain it. It was hers, and it grew brighter every time she was brave.

Everyone in the galaxy wanted that power. But you could only reach Zootellia if you had powers too — or if you brought a friend who did.

Luna's mum was the kind Queen of Zootellia. She had a tall gold crown and a long, flowing cape, and when she needed to be brave, she could turn into a great golden lion.

"You don't have to be anyone but yourself, Luna," said Mum. "That is where your power comes from."

When Luna was three, she met her very best friend in the whole universe — a small, round bunny called Cheeto.

Cheeto had floppy ears that faded from white at the top to bright pink at the tips. He had a tiny star on his head and a little camera on his collar. And when Cheeto wiggled his ears — bzzzt! — he could give a buzzy little zap. He could even do karate. Cheeto loved Luna, and Luna loved Cheeto.

But far across space, hungry aliens were looking for Luna's power. They wanted it for themselves.

So, to keep her safe, Mum did a very hard thing. She sent Luna far away, to a quiet boarding school on planet Earth, where nobody would ever think to look.

On Earth, Luna lived a normal life. And she was happiest just being herself.

She wore a comfy grey hoodie and her favourite jeans. She kept her long hair in one long plait. She did NOT like dresses, even though her dad was always trying to make her wear them. (Luna's mum and dad had split up a long time ago, and they were very different.)

Best of all, Luna was brilliant with computers. Her fingers flew across the keys. She could open any locked door and crack any secret code. Luna was a hacker — the best one at school.

And Cheeto? Cheeto hid in her backpack and went everywhere with her.

"Stay quiet, Cheeto," Luna whispered with a grin. "Nobody can know about us."

For a while, the secret was safe. But one day, Luna's power sparkled out of her hands by mistake — right in the middle of class.

Her teacher saw it. And her teacher was not kind.

"So," said the teacher, with a cold little smile. "You're the girl with the powers. I think I'll keep you."

The teacher locked the classroom door. But she forgot one thing: Luna could open ANY door.

"Cheeto!" cried Luna. "It's time to go!"

Cheeto wiggled his ears — bzzzt! — and the lock popped open. Then Luna did something amazing. She took a deep breath... and turned into a tiger! A real, stripy, springy tiger.

Luna the tiger and Cheeto the bunny raced down the hall and dived into a tiny silver escape pod.

"Take us home to Mum!" said Luna, and she pressed the big green button.

But the pod gave a wobble and a fizz. Something went wrong. The map glitched — and the little pod shot off the WRONG way.

The pod did not go to Mum. It zoomed all the way across the galaxy and landed somewhere cold and grand.

This was Dad's palace. And Luna's dad was the strict King who ruled the whole galaxy.

Two enormous guards stomped over and marched Luna inside.

"Well, well, well," said Dad, tapping his diamond sceptre. "Who is THIS? My own daughter, at last."

"Hi, Dad," said Luna. "It was an accident. I just want to go home."

"Nonsense," said Dad. "You will stay here. One day you will be Queen of the whole universe — so you must learn to be a proper princess. Pretty dresses. Fancy balls. Perfect manners."

Luna's heart sank. "But I don't WANT to wear dresses," she said.

"You will go to my royal school," said Dad. "And that animal cannot stay. We do not keep pets here. Guards — take the bunny away."

"No! Not Cheeto!" cried Luna. But the guards carried her wriggling bunny off down the hall.

Dad's royal school was like a beautiful jail. All day long, Luna had to practise curtsies and balance books on her head. Worst of all, they made her wear a big, frilly, itchy dress.

Luna missed her hoodie. She missed Cheeto more.

But Luna was clever, and she watched, and she waited. She noticed something. The teachers were allowed to leave the school — but the students were not.

So when her teacher went out to buy some lunch, Luna saw her chance.

She crept up to the locked door and its glowing keypad. She cracked her knuckles. Her fingers began to fly.

"Locked doors," whispered Luna, "are my favourite kind."

Beep — beep — click! The door slid open. Luna slipped out to go and rescue her best friend.

Luna found Cheeto in a little cage at the end of the palace. The moment she opened it, he leapt into her arms.

"I've got you," said Luna. "We're going home."

But the two big guards spotted them. "STOP!" they shouted, stomping closer.

"Cheeto," said Luna, "show them your ears."

Cheeto wiggled his floppy ears as hard as he could — BZZZZT!

A buzzy zap zinged through the air. The guards' clanky armour locked up tight — then they wobbled, yawned a big sleepy yawn, and flopped over, snoring like babies.

Luna laughed. Then she turned into a tiger again, scooped Cheeto onto her back, and ran for the launch pad, where a shiny rocket was waiting.

Up, up, up — WHOOSH! The rocket roared into space, away from the palace, all the way home to Mum.

But when Luna's rocket landed back on Zootellia, her heart went cold.

The shining planet was dark. The lights were out. The whole kingdom was fast asleep — and sneaky aliens were creeping everywhere. While Luna was away, they had finally found their way in. They had caught the Queen and put the whole world to sleep.

"They wanted my power," whispered Luna. "And they hurt my home to try and get it. Not any more."

Luna did not need to fight them. She was far too clever for that. She crept through the shadows with Cheeto, hacking every alien lock as she went.

She found Mum trapped inside a glowing cage. Tap-tap-tap went Luna's clever fingers — and the cage clicked open.

"My brave girl," said Mum. "You came back."

"Always," said Luna.

Then they showed the aliens what a team they were. Cheeto zapped — bzzzt! — and switched all the sleepy lights back on. Luna became a tiger, and Mum became a great golden lion, and side by side they roared so loud the aliens dropped their nets, jumped in their ships, and zoomed away across the galaxy, never to come back.

The kingdom woke up. The lights came back on. Everyone cheered for the brave girl who had saved them all.

And Luna finally understood what Mum had always told her. Her power was never just the starlight in her hands. Her real power was being herself — and the love she had for Cheeto and her mum.

"You don't have to wear a single dress," laughed Mum. "Be exactly who you are."

So Luna became the kindest Queen the galaxy had ever known. She wore her royal cape — but always over her favourite hoodie. She kept her long plait. And Cheeto rode everywhere on her shoulder, ears fading white to pink.

Together, Luna and Cheeto flew their rocket all across space, from planet to planet and star to star — helping wherever they could, and having the greatest adventures of all.

"Ready, Cheeto?" said Luna.

Cheeto wiggled his ears. Bzzzt!

"Then let's go," said Luna. And off they flew, across the whole galaxy. THE END.
